Father,
Thank you for the gift of a new day with my spouse; may our bond today be strengthened in You.
I am aware that my every word, every glance, and every action today matters. Nothing is without consequence, for Your laws are woven into the very fabric of the world.
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
Grant me the wisdom to sow goodness, understanding, and patience today, especially when it seems most difficult. So often, I want to have my say first, to prove myself right, and to defend myself.
Silence this need within me. Help me to truly hear what my spouse desires to tell me.
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” (James 1:19)
When I fall in this struggle and inflict a wound with my words or actions, soften my heart. Do not let resentment or bitterness take root within me.
Show me the path to a forgiveness that sets no conditions and keeps no record of wrongs.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Lord, our goal is not to agree on everything, but to be united in You. I long for Your Spirit to lead us toward a shared mind and common action.
“complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” (Philippians 2:2)
This unity is not built upon our shifting emotions, but on the foundation You have laid. Our marriage is Your design, Your creation.
Remind us of this sanctity when we face the pressures of the world which seek to tear us apart.
“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mark 10:9)
I know that we cannot do this alone. As two, we are vulnerable, but with You in our midst, our bond becomes stronger than any trial.
Be the third and strongest strand in the cord of our marriage.
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
Father, at times the worries of this life—finances, work, health, the future—press down upon our shoulders. These burdens exhaust our strength and steal our peace.
I consciously take every worry that weighs upon me today and place it in Your hands.
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
When we get lost in our daily struggles, open our eyes to the bigger picture. Help us to trust that Your plan for us is good, even when I do not understand it.
Give us the faith to see beyond our current troubles, in the hope of what You have prepared.
“But as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.’” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
I ask You, bless my spouse today. Protect them, guide them, and may they feel Your love through my actions. May this day of ours be to Your glory.
Amen.
