Lord,
today I step once more into the role of guardian of my family, and I ask for Your blessing upon our home.
Lord, today I pray especially for my wife. Thank You for her. I pray, give her strength for all the tasks that lie before her. Grant her patience when the days are long and arduous, and when her work seems endless and never truly complete.
Guide her tongue, that she may always speak words that build up and encourage, not only our children, but me as well.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” (Proverbs 31:26)
I pray that in her motherhood she may find joy and fulfillment. May our children respect and cherish her. May Your Word be fulfilled:
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:28)
Father, thank You for our children. They are Your gift, the greatest treasure we have received.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.” (Psalm 127:3)
Please, protect them today. Protect them from all evil, from harm, and from harmful influences. I remember all the prayers I have uttered for them, and I believe that You hear them.
“For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him.” (1 Samuel 1:27)
At times, I worry for them; at times, I feel helpless. But in those moments, I desire to do what Your Word teaches us: to simply surrender my cares to You.
“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches! Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord! Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.” (Lamentations 2:19)
Therefore, I pour out my heart before You and entrust their lives to You. I believe in Your promise that our labor will not be in vain.
“They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the LORD, and their descendants with them.” (Isaiah 65:23)
Lord, I pray, help me also to be a good husband and father. I know it is my duty to care for my family, to provide them with security and all that they need.
“But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (1 Timothy 5:8)
Help me, in shouldering this responsibility, not to forget the importance of my presence at home, and of the time I devote to my wife and children.
Father, grant my wife and me wisdom, that together we may know how to raise our children in Your paths.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Help us to impart Your Word and Your love to them at every moment—in the morning, throughout the day, and in the evening.
“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 6:7)
Lord, we know that we are not perfect parents, but we place our trust in You. You are the perfect Father, and we know that we can entrust our children and our petitions to You.
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11)
Thank You, Father, for hearing this prayer. I entrust to You this day, my wife, my children, and myself. Guide us.
Amen.
