DO YOU HAVE A PRAYER REQUEST?

What to do with your Intercessory Prayer Requests

What would we do without the help of God? If we take time to learn what prayer truly means in all its forms, we would truly understand that it is an advantage given to us by God.

Each time you pray, you give God room to intervene in your situation with His own strength. Intercessory prayer requests are a special kind of prayers which produce great results when engaged.

When you consider the challenges that you deal with daily, both privately and in the open, physically, spiritually and even mentally, there is only so much that your strength can handle before you are worn out.

And even when you pray, you need the support of other believers who understand and can pray for you like they would themselves.

How do intercessory prayers work

When you pray an intercessory prayer, you need to understand that you are praying one of the highest forms of prayer. Why, because it requires commitment and a deep relationship with God.

Intercessory prayer is considered more of a ministry than a one-time act. It draws you closer to God and enables you to seek His face over the needs of others constantly and passionately.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 7 that Jesus Christ is continually interceding for us before God. Meaning that, He is constantly standing in the gap for you and for me, seeking God’s face over the things we struggle with.

Therefore he is able to completely save those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews 7:25

An intercessor is driven by love and compassion to see a soul set free from the oppression of the devil, and to see them restored and established in God. So, he or she is always on their watch, giving their time and energy, sometimes even their sleep and food for the sake of the soul in question.

They are like those who keep watch at the gate, staying awake so that others can sleep. They are like the soldiers in the frontline, fighting so that their people can be safe.

In addition, intercessors are people who are in tune with the spirit of God. When we commit to praying over a person, we open ourselves up to the Holy Spirit who gives us both a sense of their pain or need (this is called discernment), and also a heart of compassion to seek God on their behalf.

Who can pray Intercessory Prayer Requests

Who can intercede? Anyone can be an intercessor. In fact, the Bible does encourage us to pray for one another because our prayers have great effect.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. – James 5:16
