DO YOU HAVE A PRAYER REQUEST?

Unspoken Prayer Request Meaning

What does an unspoken prayer request mean? Is it even a thing? Yes it is. And at some point or another, we all pray it or will pray an unspoken prayer request, meaning it is inevitable.

However, we have God’s promise that no matter what we face or go through, He is the God who hears our call and answers our prayers.

The benefit of prayers

Life is characterized by events, people and things. This means that our lives are affected either by certain events, by certain people, or certain things that can come into it.

In the face of these things, God has given us access to His will and His love. It is called prayer.

Through prayer, we give control to God. Through prayer we stay in touch with our spiritual heritage. Through prayer, we open ourselves to God’s presence and intervention no matter what we are going through. The benefits of prayer are endless.

Moreover, God’s word assures us that He is willing and able to give us the things we pray for and the things we need for our well-being when we ask Him.

Matthew 7:11- If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

An unspoken prayer request meaning

An unspoken prayer request means a prayer made from the depths of our hearts that sometimes we find difficult to communicate in words.

A prayer request is an expressed desire for the support of other believers in the Body of Christ in prayers for a particular need or challenge in our lives.

Sometimes when people give a prayer request, they go into details. For example, someone wants $500 for rent. Another is asking for the blessing of a husband. Another is asking for healing from the flu or cancer.

These are details that we can even talk about after the prayer session.

But there are prayers that are too heavy to communicate in detail, or even talk about thereafter.

A very close example from the Bible is Hannah in 1Samuel 1:12-13,

As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk

Like Hannah, unspoken requests are prayers of the heart pouring out before God. If they are shared as a request, they contain very few words but with great emotional weight. It is not a prayer of someone seeking to be understood but of someone seeking to be helped by God.

Don’t be afraid

Many people hold back their unspoken requests because of fear, guilt or even shame.

However, the family and presence of God is not a place of judgement or condemnation but of love, truth and peace.

First is that the Holy Spirit of God is able to interpret your grief and pain. He understands you more than you do yourself. Whether you use many words or few words, He is able to communicate your heart to God, and also communicate God’s heart to you.

Hence, do not hesitate when you have the opportunity to share your unspoken prayer request; meaning it might happen but remember that God will always hear the cry of His people. You may not go into details, a few words is all that is needed to stand with you in faith and to pray for God’s intervention in your situation.
