Father,
I come before You with a heart that desires to run, while You are teaching me the patient walk of one step at a time.
I come with a heart that is so often impatient. I confess to You, Lord, that I long for immediate answers. I want to see mountains move now, right now. It is difficult for me to wait, and my gaze often turns to others and to their apparent progress.
But Your Word gently reminds me: “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out his schemes.” (Psalm 37:7)
Help me to rest in You today, Lord. Help me not to envy or to be angered, but to fix my gaze upon You and upon the unique path You have for me.
You work in ways different from what I imagine. Your path is not one of immediate solutions, but one of gradual and steady growth, which at times I can barely perceive.
You have promised me: “Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.” (Exodus 23:30)
Thank You for this wonderful promise. Thank You for not removing all obstacles at once, for that would frighten and overwhelm me. Thank You for giving me time to grow, to be strengthened in faith, and to prepare for the blessings You have for me. You are teaching me that everything has its purpose and its time.
Your Word says: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Help me to trust in Your perfect timing, even when I do not understand it. Help me to see the beauty in gradual progress. My journey with You is not a sudden explosion of light, but a magnificent sunrise, growing ever brighter.
You remind me that “the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” (Proverbs 4:18)
Give me eyes of faith today, that I may see this progress, step by step. Let me see You removing the obstacles that I, perhaps, do not even perceive. And while You are at work outside of me, I pray, work also within me. Strengthen my character, deepen my trust.
Fill me with the confidence of Your promise, “that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
Thank You for never leaving me alone. Thank You for faithfully guiding me and completing the work You have begun in me and for me. And so today, I choose silence and expectation. Your Word teaches me:
“It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:26)
In this silence, I surrender to You my worries, my impatience, and my hopes. I trust in You, Lord. Shape me, guide me, and strengthen me for the path that lies before me today.
Amen.
