DO YOU HAVE A PRAYER REQUEST?

Can God Answer My Prayer for the Impossible Request?

We all might agree that at some point in our individual lives we will encounter an impossible situation. At such a time, a prayer for the impossible request might come in handy.

There is great power in prayer. And a prayer done in faith, consistently over a long period, according to the will of God, will become a reality.

Men like Moses, David, and Daniel are great examples of the power of consistent prayers that God answered during Bible days.

Daniel, for example, prayed consistently for the liberation of his people from captivity in the land of Babylon. According to the prophecy of Jeremiah, they should only be in captivity for seventy years, and thereafter be returned to their native land.

However, they were there for over seventy years, and nothing was said or done, either by the people or by those who held them captive. Daniel couldn’t wage war against the Chaldeans. He knew it was impossible to do so.

Therefore, he turned it into a prayer request, devoting himself to seeking God in prayer and fasting for a long period of time.

In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom— in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel 9:1-3

Daniel’s story is a great example of an impossible request. We may have seen people believe God for years over a special case in their lives, and God gave them an answer to their petition at the right time.

These prayers can be in any form—personal, parental, financial, social, health, academic, anything that is beyond us.

A woman who has been told she might never have a baby. An athlete who has been told he would never walk after his car crash. A spouse who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or one who is having a surgical operation with little or no chance of survival.

These are practical examples of situations that may warrant a prayer for the impossible request. One where we commit ourselves or a prayer group to pray for as long as possible.

Another Biblical Example

The story of Peter’s arrest and release from prison in a miraculous manner when the Church in Jerusalem at the time prayed for him, is another great example of an impossible request being answered.

You see, although the Church, the body of saints in Jerusalem at the time, did not have many days to fast and pray, they combined their faith together to pray for Peter’s deliverance.

This was a serious situation because James had been arrested prior in a similar fashion, and had been put to death by the king’s order.

Now, Peter had also been taken, and it seemed like the situation was going to repeat itself.

The church was already under intense persecution by both the king and the religious leaders, and there was no provision for legal defence on behalf of Peter. It would simply be from prison to trial and then to death.

However, the Church committed themselves to praying for a miraculous release. According to Acts 12, with the guards surrounding Peter, there was no way he would get out except by a supernatural intervention. And that’s what happened.

The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. – Acts 12:6-7

An angelic intervention was what he needed, and through the combined faith of the Church, that’s what he got. The rest is history. The miracle was so unexpected that the saints could not believe it when they saw Peter. That was an impossible request God granted HIs people.

No matter what it is you are going through, it is not impossible for God. You don’t have to be afraid to bring it before God or share your impossible request with other saints to stand with you. It may be impossible from the human perspective, but it isn’t with God.

For nothing will be impossible with God.” – Luke 1:37 (ESV)

Share your prayer for the impossible request

The prayer for the impossible request is encouraged as a resource for individuals, parents, or family groups who have a need that they feel is impossible for men, but not for God. It is for those with extraordinary (if not impossible) needs.

However, we at Operando believe in the power of God to answer prayer requests that are impossible to human foresight, skill and effort. Our prayers are made with firm reliance on God’s promises.

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” – Luke 18:6-8

What is God’s promise to us? He will not put off His chosen ones, who cry to Him day and night for their needs. Who are His chosen ones? You and I who have put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. He has promised not to put us off when we cry out to Him.

Here are some of the great blessings you will enjoy when you share your prayer for the impossible request with us. At Operando:
