So often we are like the shepherds out in the fields, waiting with troubled minds in the dark and the cold. Sometimes it is when faced with the most wondrous events that we are the most afraid. We are wary of change, reluctant to leave our comfort zones, and anxious about the future. Sometimes we don’t recognize Your miracles even when they are right in front of us.
Dear Father,
You are the One from Whom all good things come.
We are about to receive the greatest gift ever given to the world into our hearts. Please prepare our hearts tonight, as You have done throughout Advent, to receive Your son, Christ the King, on this most holy of nights.
- Eckhardt, John (Author)

Let us not be afraid to receive You, Lord, and to do all You ask of us. Knowing that You are near, let us move forward into the future with confidence, no matter how dark the night is.
As we await Your arrival, let us remember the directive of the angels:
“Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people.”
Luke 2:10-11
Tonight, instead of being fearful, let us rejoice with their proclamation:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men.”
Luke 2:14
With joy in our hearts, let us seek You with all that we have and do whatever it takes to find You.
Open our eyes to see You wherever You may be, even in the most unlikely of places.
Open our hearts to receive Your gifts tonight and always.
Heavenly Father, let us always glorify and praise You.
Amen.
