Dear Father,
Thank you for this new day and for the rest that has refreshed my body. I come before you with a heart full of gratitude and requests.
Today, I want to lay before you all my worries and thoughts about my health and taking care of my body. I often worry about whether I am doing the right thing, if I am strong enough to resist temptation. But your Word invites me to entrust all this to you.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
Lord, for this reason, I surrender this area of my life to you today. I believe that you want us to be healthy in spirit, soul, and body because you love us. This is not just my wish but your promise for me and for my loved ones.
“Beloved, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” (3 John 1:2)
Each day, I make hundreds of small decisions about what to eat and drink. These are such simple, everyday things, yet I know they have a significant impact. Please, Holy Spirit, guide me in these decisions.
Help me so that every choice I make, from my morning coffee to my evening meal, brings glory to you and life to my body, which is your temple.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
I am aware, Lord, that we live in a world that constantly bombards us with unhealthy food, false images of perfect bodies, and messages that we are never good enough.
The fight against eating disorders, food addictions, and poor self-image sometimes feels overwhelming. But you remind me that you have given me your power and authority.
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19)
In the power of Jesus’ name, I resist the spirit of comparison, the spirit of dissatisfaction with my body, and all forms of unhealthy eating habits, both in myself and in those I pray for. I will not be a slave to food or the opinions of others.
Please guard my eyes and my thoughts from the false ideals set by media, movies, and social media. I do not want to strive for the fleeting beauty dictated by the world but for the eternal beauty that comes from you.
“Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.” (Psalm 119:37)
Help me truly understand and accept that you do not look at my outward appearance. Your view of my heart is what truly matters. Free me from the burden of having to please the world.
“But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'” (1 Samuel 16:7)
Lord, today I choose to take care of my body with your help. Give me wisdom in my food choices, motivation for exercise, and a desire for rest. May I be grateful for the body you have given me and not criticize it, but care for it as a precious gift.
I know that I cannot do this on my own, but I believe in your power that works within me.
“I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
Thank you, Father, for listening to me and for being faithful. May I live this day for your glory, in body and in spirit.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
