There is no better way to pray when we feel insecure and vulnerable than to say Psalm 91: Prayer for protection. Take 5 minutes and slowly read this prayer, verse by verse, and let it sink in.
Psalm 91: Prayer For Protection
Lord, thank you for being the best shield and defense. I’m not as safe with anyone as when I’m with You. Lord, the greatest happiness is to be near You and serve You with all I am.
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Ps 91, 1-2
I’m on the verge of collapsing in front of the evil. I began to believe the lie that temptation is stronger than Your grace. I have started to doubt Your word that I will succeed, and I trust the whisperer that I am too weak and unworthy of Your help.
You, Jesus, know best all the traps evil has set for me. I am asking You to come and set me free.

Lord, protect my thoughts so that the evil spirit cannot convince me that you forget me. Protect my heart so that nothing bad can penetrate it, and do not allow destructive impulses to dominate my heart. I confess them to You so you can set me free here and now.
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Ps 91, 3-4
Lord, protect me from the snares of the wicked. Save me from cunning people so that they cannot harm me. Protect me from all violence and callousness. Free me from all greedy and carnal impulses, so I may shine before You.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Ps 91, 5-7
Jesus, protect me from lies and half-truths. Send your light in moments when it is difficult to separate the apparent from the real. Give me clarity in which I can safely take a step forward again.
It’s never too late to call out to You. Saviour, nothing is impossible for You. It is enough to ask You with all my heart, and You are already saving me.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Ps 91, 14-16
Thank you, Lord, for setting me free, for I could see Your greatness and victory in this battle with my own eyes. I feel joy when you bind up my wounds and comfort me that the danger is over.
Amen.
