Father,
when Jesus, on that evening, raised his eyes to heaven, he prayed to you with his whole being. This morning, I too lift my gaze and my heart to you, in trust and surrender, knowing that you hear me.
I enter this day with Jesus’s words on my lips, with his prayer in my heart.
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.” (John 17:1)
For me too, the hour has come today to glorify you, in the small and great things that await me.
Glorify Your Son in me
Lord Jesus, you finished the work the Father gave you to do. You revealed his name to those who were given to you. I ask you, help me also to finish the work you entrust to me today.
May my every thought, word, and deed glorify you, so that you, in turn, may glorify the Father in my life.
I know that sometimes in this world I feel alone, lost, and misunderstood, like an orphan. But your promise echoes in the silence of my heart and banishes every fear.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:18)
Holy Father, keep us in your name
Jesus, you prayed for your disciples, for those the Father gave you. Thank you for praying for me in heaven today, for asking that I be kept in your name.
In this unity with you and with my brothers and sisters, I know that my true home is found, and that you are truly my peace.
“Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.” (John 17:11)
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:21)
I ask you for this unity in my family, in my circle of friends, and in the Church. May our love and forgiveness for one another testify to the world that you truly came from the Father.
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,” (Philippians 2:9)
Father, you have glorified him and given him the name above every name. The name of Jesus. In this mighty name, I place all my worries, my hopes, and my expectations today.
Although there are moments full of sorrow and trial, I cling to your faithful promise of a coming joy that no one can take away.
“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” (John 16:22)
Thank you, Lord, for this hope, which is the anchor for my soul.
Amen.
Amen
