Good morning, Creator of all that is new; I come to You in faith, believing that You can create something entirely new in me today.
But Your answer goes deeper than my own acknowledgment. You invite me into a new reality, into a new birth that my old self struggles to understand. How can I be born again when I am already old? How can I return to the safety and simplicity of the beginning?
Lord, make me born again of the Spirit
You answer me with a truth that transcends the logic of flesh and blood.
“Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”” (John 3:5)
Help me to understand and accept this mystery. I do not want to remain with my old, stony heart that resists Your Spirit. I do not want to remain trapped in the flesh, which understands only earthly things.
“Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” (John 3:6)
Therefore, this morning I ask You: give me new birth. Take what is old and weary in me. Take my logic, which sets limits on Your power. This is a complete surrender, in which I ask You: Lord, let me put You first.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)
Thank You for the promise that in You all things are made new. Not just a little better, but completely new.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
May Your Kingdom Grow in Me
I will not look for it outside of myself, in places or in special events. Open my eyes to see it here and now, within me, because You are in me.
“nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”” (Luke 17:21)
Today, may I be like the wind You speak of. May I not cling to my own plans, but be led by Your Spirit, who blows where He wills. May others not see me, but instead hear the voice of Your Spirit within me. Let this not be my will, but Yours.
“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.” (James 1:18)
Thank You, Lord, for this new morning and for the invitation into a new life.
Amen.
