Lord,
Thank You for this new day, for the opportunity to be with You first, before I face the world. I pray that the time spent with You would so transform my heart that others might recognize Your presence in me.
“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)
Lord, I too am often simple and unschooled in the eyes of the world. But I believe that my strength lies in being with You.
I may not have the wealth or influence the world values, but I possess something infinitely more precious.
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:6)
Let them know that I have been with You
May Your transformation in my life be so evident that it cannot be denied. May my changed life be a living sign of Your power, a proof that silences all objections.
Sometimes I struggle to see You myself, so I ask You, help me to always recognize You. When I fail to recognize You in my day, remind me that You are the one who works miracles.
“But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.” (Acts 4:14)
Even those who oppose You will have to acknowledge Your work.
“What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it.” (Acts 4:16)
I know that the world will always try to silence Your voice. It will try to frighten me and prevent me from speaking of You and Your love.
“But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.” (Acts 4:17)
They will come with commands and prohibitions, that I should no longer act in Your name.
“Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 4:18)
Judge whether it is right to obey You or the world
In these moments of trial, Lord, give me clarity and courage. Help me to always choose You. This is my daily decision, and Lord, may I put You first in all that I do and say.
But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.” (Acts 4:19)
May Your truth burn so strongly within me that I simply cannot keep it to myself.
“For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20)
In the end, Lord, I know that Your victory is certain. Regardless of threats and opposition, Your work will be glorified and people will praise You.
“After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.” (Acts 4:21)
May my life bring glory to Your name today. Amen.
