Lord Jesus,
Through your work of redemption, you made me a light and salt on the earth, a bearer of good things everywhere I find myself. You placed me here, in this moment, not by accident but with divine intention.
My presence in the lives of those around me carries a purpose, and I do not take that lightly.
Your word says in Matthew 5:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Lord, I pray, please, help me shine your light on those around me today. In a world where discouragement lurks in unexpected corners, where weariness weighs heavily on hearts, let me be a source of refreshment.
When someone is lost in doubt, let my words bring clarity. When frustration threatens to consume, let my actions demonstrate patience and grace.
When gossip or negativity swirls in conversations, give me the courage to be the one who redirects words toward kindness and truth.
Let me be an instrument of your peace and love to the wounded and afflicted who will cross my path.
Whether it is a stranger with unseen battles, a friend hiding behind a smile, or even a difficult colleague struggling in silence, make me sensitive to their needs.
Give me wisdom, Lord, not just to offer comforting words but to listen—truly listen—with compassion and understanding.
Help me to see past appearances, past the defenses people put up, and recognize where a gentle word or a small act of kindness can make all the difference.
I receive your life-giving power upon me today. Use me to heal the broken and not break them further. Too often, we react in haste, judge too quickly, or fail to see the burdens others carry.
Lord, make me slow to anger, quick to forgive, and eager to offer grace, just as you do with me daily. Let my presence be a place of safety where others feel seen, valued, and loved.
If my words have the power to tear down or build up, let me always choose the latter. If my actions can bring despair or hope, let me always choose hope.
Let my neighbours, colleagues, family, and friends see your glory working in me, directing me, and blessing whatever I do. Let them not just hear about my faith but witness it in the way I carry myself—when faced with stress, when wronged, when tired, and when no one else is watching.
In my work, let integrity guide me. In my home, let patience and love shape my words.
In my friendships, let loyalty and kindness be my trademarks. Let me be an encourager, not just in grand gestures but in the small, quiet moments—the check-in text, the smile, the understanding nod, the prayer whispered on someone else’s behalf.
Use my words and actions to show the unloved, abused, rejected, and dejected that you love and want them. When the enemy whispers lies of worthlessness into their ears, let my presence be a reminder that they are cherished.
If someone is drowning in loneliness, let me be the outstretched hand that pulls them back into the warmth of human connection. If someone is afraid to hope again, let my faith be a beacon that gently points them back to you.
And let the results of this great day be to the glory of your name, Lord.
Not to my credit, not for my recognition, but that in all things, your goodness shines through.
At the end of today, let me look back and see not just a list of tasks completed but lives touched, hearts uplifted, and moments where your love was made known.
Let my life be a testimony that points to you, the source of all that is good and pure.
Amen.
