Morning Prayer for Today – Fill My Heart With Joy

Father God,

I recognize that you are the source of my joy and my hope.

You are the only One who will never fail when all else falls apart. Who else can I rely on but you?

I am contemplating your words in Nehemiah 8:

Then he said to them, “Go, eat the festival foods, drink the sweet drinks, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; 

For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your refuge.” 

Then all the people went away to eat, drink, to send portions, and to celebrate a great feast,

Because they understood the words which had been made known to them.

Lord, I receive your joy in my heart right now. I choose to be glad because I know you are on my side.

No matter what the world throws at me, I know one thing: you will stand by, protect, and fight for me.

Lord, let me enjoy each moment of my day. Help me see the beauty in the little things around me and appreciate them.

Your word says in Romans 14:17:

For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

So, I ask you, sweet Spirit of God, to fill my heart with your joy. Let your joy lift my spirit so I can bless others.
