Burdens come in different shapes and forms. Some we can handle, some we can’t. When faced with such massive mountains, it can be quite challenging to keep going.
I Couldn’t Go to School
In my senior year of high school, I was home for almost a year because my mom couldn’t pay my tuition. It was very challenging for me both emotionally and academically.
I was the best in my class, but being the best was not enough to keep me from being sent home.
I decided to trust God because it had become a burden. I gave it all over and told Him, “Well, if you can’t do anything about it, then there is no hope.” Somehow, it seemed He just flooded me with peace. As if He was saying,

“Be anxious for nothing… let your requests be made known to God; and the peace… which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ”
Philippians 4:6-7
God Showed Up
Before the year ended, a breakthrough came. My mom was able to make the payment, and I was able to resume school.

Furthermore, as if adding a bonus, I received a full scholarship that would carry me until graduation. It was like a dream, but I knew it was a miracle—and it was from God.
God Never Said Life Would Have No Burdens
The thing with burdens, whether with school or anything else, is that they do not only affect you. They can extend to things and people you love.
For example, the burden in your heart can affect your relationships with other people and your attitude toward life. You can probably relate.
Nowhere in scripture does God say life is burden-free. Instead, the Bible says trouble is common to all.
Take a look:
“Yet man is born to trouble, As the sparks fly upward.”
Job 5:7
“In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
But not to worry, we are not without hope. Although there is no promise of zero burdens, there is the promise of help. So, no matter what you are dealing with, God can handle your burden.
What Happens When You Let God Help You?
Imagine you are standing in the rain. While you’re wondering what to do, a nearby shelter invites you in. What a relief. But take note of this reality:
The rain does not disappear because you find cover; it simply loses its ability to affect you.
Our weakness is that we want to solve every problem our way. However, we cannot win in the battles of life without God’s help. Here are some things that will happen when you let God handle your burden:
1. He will take full responsibility for you.
“I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” I
Isaiah 41:10
2. He will fill your heart with peace.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Isaiah 26:3
3. He will make you a witness.
“Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you.”
Mark 5:19
4. He will heal what’s wounded.
“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”
Joel 2:25
5. You will progress spiritually.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life.”
James 1:12
How to Let God Handle Your Burden
The Bible tells us how to let God take care of our burdens:
1. Believe that He can handle it.
“For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6
2. Deliberately hand it over to Him.
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
3. Yield to the assurance of the Holy Spirit.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts”
Philippians 4:7
4. Declare your faith.
“Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Mark 11:23
God cannot fail; He always comes through on His word. Take a moment to talk to Him about that burden today and hand it over to Him.
I pray that the Lord will flood your heart with His peace and give you victory over every storm in your life, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
