Jesus,
Thank you for this new day. I remember how you, too, sought solitude and the nearness of the Father, long before dawn, before everyone else arose and began to look for you.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (Mark 1:35)
So I, too, come to you in this morning silence, before the day truly begins. I come for strength, for direction, for your touch.
You Are the God Who Touches and Lifts Up
Lord, today I am thinking of Simon’s mother-in-law. She was not forgotten in her illness. They told you about her, and you acted at once. You did not stand aside, but you went to her, took her by the hand, and lifted her up.
Please, do the same today for me and for my loved ones who are suffering. Please, touch me and heal me.
“So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.” (Mark 1:31)
Sometimes I feel trapped in a fever of worry, fear, or physical pain. Therefore, I call to you, acknowledging my helplessness and my need for your grace.
“I said, ‘Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you.'” (Psalm 41:4)
But your power did not stop with just one person. When the sun set, they brought you all who were sick; the whole town gathered at your door. No one was too sick, too sinful, or too insignificant for you.
“At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.” (Luke 4:40)
You healed and delivered them. What an incredible experience of the living God that must have been!
“and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.” (Mark 1:34)
Your ministry was not confined to one place; you went everywhere, bringing the gospel of the kingdom and healing.
“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.” (Matthew 4:23)
Heal Me, Lord, and I Will Be Healed
You do not only heal the body, but also wounded hearts. You are the one who binds up the wounds the world cannot see.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
I believe that your healing goes deeper than the symptoms; it reaches the very root, to the forgiveness of sin.
“who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,” (Psalm 103:3)
Today, I cling to you in faith and call out to you, as the psalmist did, full of trust in your goodness.
“LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.” (Psalm 30:2)
My faith is in you. My hope is in you. My healing is in you. You are my praise and my salvation.
“Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14)
Remind me of your promise that you are the God who heals, and that your will for me is health and life.
“He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.'” (Exodus 15:26)
Therefore, I entrust all my worries and requests to you, with prayer and thanksgiving, because I know that you hear me.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
Thank you for caring for me. Thank you for your desire that all may go well with me.
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” (3 John 1:2)
Amen.
AMEN!!!
