God, source of all comfort, listen to my heart, which waits for Your voice again today.
“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.” (Isaiah 40:1)
Lord, I come before You like Simeon, who waited his entire life for the consolation of Israel. I am waiting, too. I wait for Your hand in my daily life, for Your voice amid the noise of the world, for Your presence in my solitude.
Simeon was righteous and devout, guided by the Holy Spirit. I ask You, guide me also.
Let me not be a slave to my own plans and expectations, but be open to Your inspirations. Just as You promised Simeon that he would see the Savior, so You also promise me that I will encounter You if I seek You with all my heart.
“It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.” (Luke 2:26)
My Eyes Have Seen Your Salvation!
Lord Jesus, what a moment! The elderly Simeon receiving God, who became a child, into his arms. The entire history of salvation, all expectations and prophecies, converged in that single embrace.
Today, I too wish to receive You into my arms, into my heart. Not as a distant idea, but as the living God who is here, for me.
Grant that I may recognize You in the simplicity of this day, in the faces I will meet, and in the silence of my soul. May my heart be the temple You enter today.
“for my eyes have seen your salvation,” (Luke 2:30)
You are the light that illuminates all nations. You are the one who called me out of darkness and into Your light. Thank You, for Your glory is not limited, but is offered to all who accept You.
A Sign That Will Be Spoken Against
Lord, Simeon’s prophecy was not entirely sweet. He foretold that You would be a sign that would be spoken against, and that a sword would pierce Your mother’s soul. Help me to understand that following You is not always easy.
It means accepting that the world may not understand me, that my faith will sometimes be tested, and that my heart, like Mary’s, will at times be pierced with sorrow.
“This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,” (Luke 2:34)
Thank You, too, for Anna, for her quiet and faithful service. She never left the temple but served You night and day. Grant me a portion of her perseverance and gratitude.
As I go about my duties today, may Your wisdom grow within me. Just as You grew and became strong, may I too grow by Your grace. Ultimately, I know that You are the one who makes all things grow.
Lord, You give the growth, and I entrust myself completely to You.
Amen.
