Morning Prayer for Today – Thank You For Your Son

Heavenly Father,

I join the host of saints in thanking you for the precious gift of your Son, Jesus.

Redemption and salvation would not be possible without the birth of the Holy Child through the Virgin Mary.

Your word says in Isaiah 9:6-7:

“For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace on the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.”

Isaiah 9:6-7

Father, through this holy incarnation of the Son, Jesus, you brought hope, joy, peace, and goodwill to all humanity.

I can see your nature of love and mercy in all of this, and I can’t help but fall in love with you over again.

It reminds me of what the Bible says in Romans 8:31-32:

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

Romans 8:31-32

If you loved me enough to send your only Son for my salvation, I am still convinced you will take care of me completely.

Lord, I’m overwhelmed when I consider the magnitude of your gift. That you would clothe your divinity in human flesh—becoming vulnerable, experiencing hunger, feeling pain—all to rescue me. The Creator entered creation. The Author stepped into the story. The King became a servant.

I think about Mary, holding her newborn son, perhaps not fully grasping that she cradled the hope of all humanity in her arms. I think about the shepherds, ordinary workers receiving an extraordinary announcement. I think about the wise men who traveled so far because they recognized something significant was happening.

Your coming changed everything, Jesus. You fulfilled centuries of prophecy and longing. You demonstrated that you understand our struggles because you lived them. You showed us what God is like by becoming one of us.

In John 1:14, we read:

“the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

John 1:14

You pitched your tent right in our neighborhood. You spoke our language. You shared our meals. You wept our tears.

Father, help me grasp the significance of the incarnation in fresh ways today. Let the wonder of Christmas—that moment when heaven touched earth—fill me with renewed gratitude and joy. Let me see beyond the familiar story to the radical love it represents.

Your birth set in motion the plan for my redemption. The manger pointed toward the cross. The swaddling cloths foreshadowed your burial garments. You came with purpose and determination to restore what was broken.

I’m reminded of Galatians 4:4-5:

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”

Galatians 4:4-5

The timing was perfect. The method was perfect. The result was perfect. You made a way for me to become part of your family.

As I reflect on your incarnation, I’m filled with hope. If you would go to such lengths to reach me, you won’t abandon me now. If you entered our broken world to heal it, you won’t leave your work unfinished.

Therefore, I rest in you and joyfully praise you today. I celebrate the miracle of your birth and the even greater miracle that you continue to work in my life. Thank you for coming. Thank you for staying. Thank you for promising to return.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.
