Lord, help me shift my gaze from the rules that confine me to your love, which sets me free and invites me into a deeper relationship with you.
You came to breathe life into the letter of the law. You have shown me that your Word is not a passing fad, but an eternal truth that I can rely on. In a world where everything changes and crumbles so quickly, this truth is my anchor and my rock.
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)
Your Word is an eternal light
And how did you fulfill the law, Lord? Not with new rules, not with new burdens. You fulfilled it with a single, yet all-encompassing gift: love.
You showed that the essence of all the commandments is not about what I must not do, but about how I can love.
“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10)
Let love be the fulfillment of my law
Lord, help me understand that keeping your commandments is not a dry adherence to rules, but a simple and sincere response of love to you. Not because I have to, but because I love you.
“If you love me, keep my commands.” (John 14:15)
I do not want to be “the least” in your kingdom, looking for shortcuts and teaching others that your word is not important. I want to be “great”—not out of pride, but out of a burning desire for my life to reflect your love.
Help me today to move from words to acts of service, so that I do not just speak of love, but live it out in the smallest things.
May my every thought, word, and deed today be a fulfillment of your law of love. Amen.
