Good morning, Lord; despite the burdens I carry, I begin this day with gratitude, for You are the God who can make a way from any pit to a palace.
Sometimes I feel stuck, trapped in a situation with no way out. Despair might tempt me, or I simply don’t know how to move forward. But I ask You, Lord, to strengthen my trust in You, for I believe that You always make a way, even where I cannot see one.
Lord, You Were There
You look upon my past, at all the wounds and pains that have marked me. You see the fear I experienced, perhaps even at the hands of those who should have protected and loved me.
So many times I have wondered where You were in all of this, in the midst of my loneliness and suffering.
Today, You speak to my heart, telling me that You were always there. You did not necessarily take me out of the fire, but You gave me the strength to go through it.
You did not prevent every pain, but You were close to me, giving me the grace to endure. You are changing me, Lord. You are shaping me from a pessimist into a person full of hope, one who expects Your goodness around every corner.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
You teach me that hope is not just some vague, pious wish, but a firm anchor for my soul—for my thoughts, will, and emotions. When everything seems hopeless and bleak, this anchor holds me and whispers: “Hold on! Help is on the way!”
Help me to believe that You are the sleeping King in my boat, present even when all seems lost. Remind me of Joseph and his long, painful journey from the pit to the palace.
His story proves to me that no matter what I am going through, there is always hope.
Give Me the Strength Not to Give Up
Lord, when I feel stuck in my pit, please do not let me give up. Do not let me believe the lie that there is no way out. You are the Way.
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
Protect me from blaming You for my troubles or thinking that You are punishing me. Help me to understand that You are using this situation to work in my life.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Encourage me to do good to others, even when I myself am wounded. Do not let me withdraw into myself, wallow in self-pity, or become isolated. I know that I cannot be helpless and powerful at the same time.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (Isaiah 40:29)
May I never stop believing in You and Your promises. My hope is not an empty thought; its source is You, Almighty God. You are greater than any situation I will face today. I trust in You.
Amen.
