Thank you, Lord, that you are not a God for the chosen alone, but for all who call upon you with a humble heart.
Like the Syrophoenician woman, I too come to you today. I often feel like a foreigner, like someone standing on the outside, unworthy even to come before you.
And yet, I believe that in Your eyes, I am worthy. I come with my hardships, with my sick “daughters”—with all the worries, fears, and illnesses in my heart and in my family. And like her, I simply fall at your feet.
Lord, give me the faith of this woman
Teach me, I pray, the persistence of this pagan woman. Sometimes, when I ask, it seems you do not hear me or even turn me away. Your words seem harsh, like when you said the bread is not for the little dogs. Help me in those moments not to despair or walk away offended, but to cling to your promise.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9)
Teach me her extraordinary wisdom and humility. I do not ask for the whole loaf, Lord, for I know I am not worthy of it. A crumb will be enough. Just a crumb of your grace that falls from your children’s table. I know that even this crumb is powerful enough to heal my soul and cast out the evil spirit of fear and doubt. This is faith.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
You are a God for all who call upon you
Thank you for showing, through this woman, that your love knows no borders, nationality, or origin. You are not a God only for the chosen, but for everyone who turns to you with a humble and persistent heart.
“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,” (Romans 10:12)
You are good to all; your mercy embraces all that you have created. No one is excluded from your kingdom of love.
“The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” (Psalm 145:9)
Your words to this woman fill me today with immeasurable hope. I long to hear you speak the same words to me, seeing my faith, even if it is as small as a mustard seed.
“Then Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.’ And her daughter was healed at that moment.” (Matthew 15:28)
Lord, strengthen my faith. Let it be persistent, humble, and courageous. Let me believe that you will work a miracle for me too, when I say to you with all my heart: “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
Amen.
Amen 🙏 I understand i live today by the Grace of God.
