Good morning, my God; today I desire to be Your reflection, a lamp that no darkness can hide.
Remind me, Lord, that I am the salt of the earth. It is so easy for me to become bland, corrupt, and tasteless.
I fear becoming useless, that people would simply trample me underfoot because Your life-giving power is no longer in me. Renew Your grace within me, so that I may bring the flavor of Your love into this world.
Lord, Let Me Be Your Light
Your word is clear, Lord. You do not tell me to try to be a light. You tell me that I already am a light.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)
This is not of my own doing; it is Your gift. You have changed me and brought me out of the kingdom of darkness.
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” (Ephesians 5:8)
Help me to live out this truth—that I was called from darkness into light—and not to hide this gift. Forgive me when I place my lamp under a bushel basket of fear, shame, or comfort; when I hide it under the bed of laziness and indifference.
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” (Luke 8:16)
That They May Glorify Your Name
Lord, I pray that my light may shine before others today. Not so that they might praise me, but so that through my actions, words, and even my smile, they might recognize You.
Because I know I am worthy in Your eyes, let me not be afraid to be visible for Your kingdom.
May my every step, every decision, and every conversation be permeated with Your glory.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
All that I am and all that I will do today, I entrust to You, Father. May it all be for Your glory.
Amen.
Amen 🙏
