Morning Prayer - Baptize Me With The Holy Spirit

My Lord and God,

As a new day awakens, I want to fix my eyes on you, just as John the Baptist once did by the Jordan. He saw you and recognized in you the hope for the whole world.

Today, I too wish to exclaim with him: “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”

Thank you for being that Lamb, who removes my guilt and shame. Your healing touch is all I need for a new beginning this day.

Lord, like John, I too often admit: I do not know you fully. I rely on my own strength, on my own “water,” forgetting that it is Your power that truly transforms.

“I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” (Mark 1:8)

You are the Lamb of God

John was sent to reveal you to the world, and he was waiting for a sign. And the sign came. It did not come from the earth, but from heaven, from the Father.

“Then John gave this testimony: ‘I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.’” (John 1:32)

Not only John, but You, Jesus, also experienced this. The heavens opened, they were even torn apart above you, so that the Father could confirm who you are.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.” (Matthew 3:16)

“Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.” (Mark 1:10)

Baptize Me with Your Holy Spirit

Lord, I ask that the heavens would open over me today as well. May Your Spirit descend and remain on me—not just for a fleeting moment, but as a constant presence that guides, comforts, and strengthens me.

May Your Spirit renew me, so that I may rise to a newness of life, for I know that every morning you say to me: “I tell you, get up!”

Just as John saw and testified, I too want to live today as a witness to your truth. Not merely with words, but with a life that reflects your love.
