Lord, King of glory,
I enter this day aware that everything is Yours. This room, this house, this city, the whole earth and all that fills it. You founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.
Everything is Your work; everything belongs to You.
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:11)
Your dominion is not partial, but absolute. You are head over everything; the kingdom and the majesty are Yours.
“Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)
Enter, King of glory, into my day!
A psalm asks, “Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?”
And when I look within myself, O God, I see the truth. My hands are not always clean, and my heart is not always pure. Too often, I turn my soul toward empty, fleeting things that promise much but leave me empty.
Guide me, Lord; let Your plans for this day prevail, not mine.
When I think of Your holiness, I realize the distance between us—a distance I cannot bridge on my own.
“And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'” (Isaiah 6:3)
But You, in Your incredible mercy, have bridged that distance. I do not ascend to You on my own; You have drawn me to Yourself. I do not stand before a terrifying mountain, but before the mountain of grace.
“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,” (Hebrews 12:22)
My spirit rejoices in You!
Therefore, today I do not ask for blessing based on my own merits, but on the foundation of Your promise. I desire to be part of the generation that seeks You, that longs for Your face, O God.
I desire to seek You with all my heart, for I know that in this seeking there is life.
And when I find You, when You find me, my heart responds with immeasurable gratitude.
“and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” (Luke 1:47)
You, King of glory, are my Savior. To You, who created all things and invites me into Your presence, I desire to give all honor.
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17)
