Faith on the Field: Ohio State Football Stars Baptize Dozens in Campus Revival

Ohio State University became the unlikely stage for a decisive spiritual moment. The football field, typically a place of grit and glory, transformed into a site of faith and renewal. What began as a revival event organized by various Christian student groups quickly became more profound. Hundreds gathered on campus, their numbers swelling to nearly 2,000.

The evening’s leaders were not just preachers or pastors but Ohio State football players—Emeka Egbuka, Gee Scott, J.T. Tuimoloau, and Kamryn Babb.

These athletes, known for their prowess on the field, stepped into a different role, sharing their faith with a raw and touching sincerity as testimonies of faith echoed through the crowd, the atmosphere charged with emotion.

When the call for baptisms came, it wasn’t in a traditional church setting. Instead, those moved to declare their faith were immersed in large tubs usually reserved for the players’ ice baths. Approximately 60 students took this step, baptized by the players they cheered on during games.

One faculty member, deeply involved in the event, called the experience “amazing” and described it as “very vulnerable and very moving.”

The revival didn’t end with the baptisms. Organizers collected contact information from the new believers, ensuring they were connected with on-campus Christian groups. Further guidance on the Gospel and discipleship was provided, anchoring this moment of faith within a community ready to support it.

In a place where touchdowns often measure victories, this night proved that the most significant wins might happen off the scoreboard.
