Sean Wolfington didn’t plan to produce City of Dreams. The film, much like Sound of Freedom, delves into the grim reality of child trafficking. But, for Wolfington, it became a calling. “We had other projects in mind,” he told The Christian Post, “but once you see something like this, it’s hard to look away.”
City of Dreams tells the story of Jesús, a young boy abducted by traffickers. Once a hopeful soccer player, he transforms into a resilient survivor, fighting for his freedom and others trapped in the same nightmare. The film, inspired by true events, exposes the brutality of modern-day slavery while offering glimpses of courage and faith in the darkest moments.
Wolfington hopes the film will raise awareness and drive action against traffickers. “When things are far from people's eyes, they're far from their hearts. We want to change that,” he said. He aims to mobilize people to fight back by drawing attention to these horrors.
Despite the heavy subject matter, City of Dreams is also a message of hope. “Jesús didn’t just fight for himself,” Wolfington explained. “That’s what we want to inspire — a spirit that never gives up, no matter the odds.”
The film is rated R for depicting violence, but Wolfington believes its message is vital. “If we can save just one child, that’s our reward.”
