Christian Leaders Condemn Planned Parenthood’s Free Abortion Clinic at Democratic Convention

A mobile clinic rolled into Chicago just as the Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicked off, offering free medical abortions and vasectomies. The clinic, operated by Planned Parenthood, was parked only a block from the convention site, offering these services without charge on August 19-20. The move quickly ignited a storm of criticism from Christian leaders and pro-life advocates.

Planned Parenthood promoted the event through social media, announcing their partnership with the Chicago Abortion Fund and a local eatery, Wieners Circle. “Here we come, Chicago! Our mobile health clinic will be in the West Loop,” they stated, highlighting the free services. The response was overwhelming, with all slots filled quickly.

Critics were swift and vocal. Andrew T. Walker, an ethics professor from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, took to X (formerly Twitter) to denounce the effort, comparing it to a “taco truck” and calling it “demonic.” He accused the Democratic Party of waging war on Christian values and the natural order.

Intercessors for America, a Christian prayer group, condemned the clinic as an “unprecedented atrocity,” urging believers to pray against what they see as moral decline within the Democratic Party.

This controversy erupts as the DNC allocates over $8 million to advance abortion rights in the upcoming election. Democrats for Life of America (DFLA) also voiced strong opposition, urging the party to reconsider its stance. “Instead of funding abortion, we firmly believe in funding alternatives,” DFLA stated, calling for an end to Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the convention.

The clash underscores the deepening divide over abortion rights as both sides prepare for a fierce battle in the political arena.
