In a recent interview with the satirical Christian website The Babylon Bee, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, shared his thoughts on Jesus' teachings. While Musk has often been labeled as agnostic or atheist, his comments reveal a respect for the moral principles Jesus advocates.
During the interview, Musk was asked if he would accept Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He humorously questioned why the interview happened on a Sunday instead of attending church. However, when the conversation turned serious, Musk stated, “I agree with the principles that Jesus advocated. There’s some great wisdom in the teachings of Jesus, and I agree with those teachings”.
Musk highlighted the importance of forgiveness and the Golden Rule, “Things like ‘turn the other cheek’ are essential, as opposed to ‘an eye for an eye.’ An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.” He continued, “Forgiveness is important, and treating people as you wish to be treated. ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself'”.
Musk’s appreciation for these teachings was evident despite not identifying as a devout Christian. When prompted about being saved, he humorously conceded, “But hey, if Jesus is saving people, I mean, I won’t stand in His way. Sure, I’ll be saved. Why not?”
