Life can sometimes hit us so hard that it feels impossible to move forward.
When your heart is broken, turning to God can bring the comfort and healing you need. That’s what this prayer for the hurting heart is all about.
Let’s pause, breathe, and take these feelings to Him.
Prayer For the Hurting Heart
Heavenly Father,
- Eckhardt, John (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
I come to You with my heart heavy and full of pain. I know Your Word says You are close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Right now, that’s where I am—feeling lost, hurt, and unsure how to move forward. But I trust that You are here with me.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Lord Jesus, I bring this brokenness to You. You alone understand what it means to suffer, and You promise to bind up wounds and give peace. Your Word says in Psalm 147 that You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.
Please heal my heart and fill me with the joy of Your salvation again.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Holy Spirit, breathe comfort into my spirit. Help me to lay these burdens at Your feet and trust in Your care. Remind me of Your truth in Psalm 51, where David prayed for a renewed and steadfast spirit.
Renew my strength and bring light into these dark places. Lord, I believe You are the God of all comfort, and I ask for Your grace to fill every corner of my heart.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
Father, Your promise in Isaiah 61 gives me hope: You bring good news to the poor and bind up the brokenhearted. Let that promise be real for me today.
Heal me in ways I can’t imagine and restore what feels lost. Let Your peace cover me completely, so I may trust Your plans even when unclear.
“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” — Isaiah 61:1
Thank You for never abandoning me, even when I feel unworthy. I lift this prayer to You with faith, knowing You hear my cries and will answer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Lean on Him
Did that prayer help ease your heart, even just a little?
Sometimes, we don’t see healing happen instantly, but prayer is like planting seeds. Over time, you’ll see God’s work in ways you didn’t expect.
Remember, He’s always close when your heart is broken. Lean on Him, and don’t be afraid to reach out to someone for extra support.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
