Southern Baptist mission teams have converged on Paris, aiming to spread their faith during the 2024 Olympics. These teams, organized by the International Mission Board (IMB), see the global event as a prime opportunity for outreach. Evens Jules, leading a group from Florida, collaborates with local churches in community service and evangelism.
The 18-member Florida team actively distributes Gospel tracts and organizes events that foster community connection. Jules emphasized the unique chance to engage with diverse crowds, saying, “The world is coming to Paris, and we’re here to share the message of hope.”
Pastor Stéphane Polegato of Antony Baptist Church expressed gratitude for the support, noting the importance of these missions in enhancing local efforts. “Their presence and help have been invaluable in reaching out to our community,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, a team from North Carolina is using Olympic-themed pins as conversation starters. This creative approach opens doors for spiritual discussions with visitors and locals alike.
IMB's strategy involves blending cultural engagement with evangelical efforts, aiming for a lasting spiritual impact. As the Olympics bring people together, these mission teams hope to leave a mark beyond the games, planting seeds of faith in the hearts of many.
