Lord,
Your Word invites me today to ask for rain in the time of the spring rains. What a simple yet profound invitation, reminding me that You are the source of every blessing.
Forgive me for so often taking Your goodness for granted. I think that blessings are simply owed to me, and I forget that the greatest privilege is the very act of being able to ask You for them.
I no longer want to assume; I desire to ask. I no longer want to live by habit; I desire to live from a relationship with You.
Therefore, I come before You today with the dry, cracked earth of my heart, and I ask: send the rain. Pour out upon me Your abundant love, joy, and peace. Soak every corner of my soul, that it may be revived and bear fruit for You.
I desire for my life to grow what You sow, not the weeds of my worries and fears.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
Lord, I ask You especially for Your peace, which the world cannot give. Not the peace that depends on favorable circumstances, but Yours, which surpasses all understanding and calms the heart in the midst of storms. Help me to cultivate this peace in my relationships, letting my daily prayer be one where I surrender my emotions to You.
You have promised, and Your promise is sure:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
Thank You, for Your care extends to every area of my life. Your blessing is not merely spiritual; it touches my work, my relationships, my health, and my finances. When I ask for Your blessing, I am truly adopting Joseph’s attitude of trust, surrendering the emotions and worries connected to all these things, believing that You will care for them.
Your Word confirms that Your blessing is different from worldly wealth, which brings with it worry and toil.
“The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22)
I ask You with confidence, for I know who You are. You are not a stingy master, withholding Your good things, but a generous Father who delights in giving gifts to His children.
You are the source of all that is good, a light on my path, and a shield from evil.
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” (Psalm 84:11)
Thank You for the promise of Your provision and for the invitation to ask. I accept Your blessing for this day and open myself to Your work in me and through me. May my life today reflect Your goodness.
Amen.
