Lord Jesus,
I come before You as the day awakens and the world around me still sleeps. I remember how You entered the temple, Your Father’s house, and saw that it had become a marketplace.
Your heart was not driven by human anger, but by a holy zeal. The love for Your Father’s house was a fire You could not contain when You saw how it had been desecrated.
“For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.” (Psalm 69:9)
On that day, You fulfilled an ancient promise. You came as the foretold Lord to cleanse and claim Your sanctuary, a place meant to be dedicated to communion with God.
“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming.” (Malachi 3:1)
With Your own eyes, You saw what the Father had long lamented—how the noise of greed drowned out the whisper of prayer, and how selfishness crowded out the pursuit of the holy.
“Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 7:11)
It was forgotten why this house was ever built. The promise was forgotten—that it would be a place where Your name would dwell and where the prayers of Your servants would be heard.
“That your eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place.” (1 Kings 8:29)
Lord, today I realize that this story is not merely a historical event. It speaks of me, of my own heart, for Your Word teaches me that I am Your temple.
“If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (1 Corinthians 3:17)
Therefore, I ask You, Jesus, enter today with all Your authority into the temple of my inner being. Overturn the tables of my worries, drive out the merchants of my pride, and cast out the money-changers of fear and doubt that have made their home in me. Help me to have thoughts focused on You, not on the noise of the world.
When You have cleared away the clutter, I ask You, please, remain. Teach me daily in the temple of my heart, just as You taught the people in Jerusalem. I long to cling to You and listen to Your words, for in them alone are life and truth.
Let my heart today be Your house of prayer, not a den of robbers for my own interests and worldly cares. Your presence brings order and peace, so I pray, may joy flood my heart.
I consecrate this temple, which I am, to You. May it today be the place where You and I meet.
Amen.

Amen❤️
