Holy God,
Thank you for this new day and for Your presence that awakens me. Your Spirit dwells within me, and this changes everything.
At times, I forget this incredible truth. I think this body is mine, that these moments are my own to do with as I please. But You remind me that my life is no longer my own, calling for the end of false tenancy, for You have made Your home in me.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” (1 Corinthians 6:19)
Because I do not belong to myself, my life is no longer my own affair. Two wills constantly battle within me: my own, which is so loud and demanding, and Yours, which is often a quiet, gentle whisper. Help me, Lord, to learn to listen for Your will and to silence my own.
You have given me life through the Spirit. I do not want this to remain merely in words, or just in the fact of Your presence within me. I desire for this life to pour out into deeds, into steps, into my very walk.
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25)
How can I walk if I do not know the path? How can I follow if I cannot hear the voice? I ask You, Holy Spirit, to teach me. Be my inner teacher, showing me today what is right and what is wrong. Let Your truth shape my thoughts.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
When I walk according to Your voice, when I allow myself to be led by You, I will no longer be a slave to my own will, but I will become who You created me to be. Your child. Your daughter, Your son. This is my deepest identity.
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14)
Forgive me for all the moments I have intentionally ignored You. When I chose my own path, even though I knew it was not the right one.
When I wounded myself and others by following my own ego. I do not want to grieve You, Spirit of truth, for You are the seal of my redemption, the promise of eternal life with God.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30)
Therefore, I ask You today, Lord: help me to walk by the Spirit. In every decision, in every conversation, in every moment of silence.
May my life today be a reflection of Your presence in me, that I might bear the fruit of the Spirit, and not the works of the flesh.
May my soul be open to Your guidance today, even if I sometimes feel depleted.
Amen.
