Have you ever felt drained physically or emotionally after being in the same space as someone in distress? Have you ever been in a relationship that often made you feel unhappy? Have you ever watched a video of a person or animal suffering and found yourself feeling emotional? Do you feel inclined to care for the earth and plants when out in nature? You are most likely an empath.
An empath is a highly sensitive individual who is largely in tune with their intuition. They are also considered loving and sensitive toward the energy people or objects emit.
You would be interested to know that Christians can also be empaths, and it isn’t a roadblock to your faith. Imagine being in the Word and being highly intuitive—that is a winning combination!
You can be a physical, emotional, or intuitive empath, or even feel in touch with plants and animals. Being an empath can make you feel down and groggy. As you take care of others around you, so should you take care of your own well-being. When you’re feeling drained, it’s important to recharge.
The world needs empaths. Without them, we would all crumble under the pressures of life. As an empath, you should know if you’re in need of a recharge:
Yes, you need some time off and away from everything. In any life situation, the key to recharging is spending some time alone. During this period, block out any person or situation that could cause you great distress. During this break, you can try meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature.
As an empath, it feels great when people confide in you when they are having a tough time. The only problem with this is that you might give too much of yourself and end up feeling drained and unable to take care of yourself.
In this case, feel free to set up boundaries. You can do this by staying away from people or situations that constantly drain your energy. Be conscious of the types of conversations you have and step away from those that will bring you down.
In many cases, people become empaths because they’ve experienced some trauma in their life. This leads them to become overly sensitive and cautious around people. One of the things you can do as you try to recharge is address any trauma in your life. You can do so by talking to a friend you trust, talking to a therapist or counselor, or writing down your feelings about the situation.
We turn to our Heavenly Father for guidance on all aspects of our lives. As an empath, you can tap into your faith to recharge and get some clarity. Prayer and sometimes fasting can help you align your thoughts and empathy. Reading the Bible and listening to inspirational content will help you recharge and get you ready to face the world.
Turning your energy toward something you enjoy is a great way to recharge. Your restorative hobby can be writing, gardening, painting, drawing, knitting—anything that engages you or brings you peace. Make sure that the hobby you choose will not be tiring or derail you from your recharge time.
