Heavenly Father,
You who are the greatest Bridegroom and know the depths of every heart. Today, I come to you with a plea that I have carried in my heart since the birth of my child.
I do not come too soon, for I know that the decision of whom he will share his life with is, second only to the decision for You, the most important one of his life.
I know that there are many plans and desires in a young heart, but only Your counsel is what endures. I do not wish for a wrong decision to bring pain to him or to anyone else. Therefore, I pray that he will not follow merely his fleeting emotions, but that he will seek Your will.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Prepare my child’s heart for the person You have chosen for him. May he not jump from one empty relationship to another, but instead keep his heart and body pure. Help him to keep his thoughts focused on You and on Your perfect plan for him.
You are the One who, in the beginning, saw man’s loneliness and gave him a companion. You are the Creator of relationships, and so I ask You to intervene.
“The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.'” (Genesis 2:18)
Please, send my child just such a helper at the proper time. Even now, prepare the heart of this person. May it be someone who loves You with their whole being, who will be to us as a son or daughter, and a blessing to our entire family.
When the time comes, may my child see in this person not just a fleeting infatuation, but recognize a gift from You, a confirmation of Your goodness and grace in his life.
“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” (Proverbs 18:22)
Lord, even now I ask you, drive the spirit of divorce far from my child’s future. This spirit of our age threatens everyone, and so I place their future marriage under Your protection. May their home be built on You, the solid rock, not on the sand of human whims.
I know that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Therefore, I pray that they may always complement one another in their mind and spirit, and grow into one.
“Be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
I pray that their bond may always be strong, imbued with faithfulness, compassion, respect, and forgiveness. May their daily dwelling in You, Lord, be the source of their strength and unity, which no trial can break.
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” (Colossians 3:14)
Thank you, for You are the God who builds perfect marriages, not just magnificent weddings. Thank you for hearing the prayer of a parent who desires only Your blessing for their child.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Amen ❤️.
