In a bold move to capture the hearts of Christian voters, a group once known as ‘Evangelicals for Biden’ has now rebranded itself as ‘Evangelicals for Harris.’ Their mission is clear: to galvanize support for Vice President Kamala Harris as she bids for the presidency.
This group, formed by Faith Voters, argues that Harris, aged 59, embodies Christian values through her steadfast commitment to American families. In a recent Facebook post, they underscored her dedication to family-oriented policies, highlighting her advocacy for the child tax credit and her lifelong pro-family stance.
Rooted in her Baptist faith, Harris often speaks of her relationship with God. She says, “Like many people of faith, I have private conversations with God where I usually ask for the strength and protection to make good decisions and do the right thing.”
The group’s support for Harris is based on her religious beliefs and legislative record. They point to her work on infrastructure, healthcare, and climate change as further evidence of her alignment with Christian principles.
Every Wednesday, the group hosts Zoom calls featuring key speakers who endorse Harris, including Jerushah Duford, the granddaughter of Billy Graham, a significant figure in the evangelical community.
Despite these efforts, the road ahead is steep. A Pew Research Center survey from April shows that over 80 percent of white evangelical voters still stand firmly behind former President Donald Trump, a stronghold that Democrats have long struggled to break. The challenge is whether ‘Evangelicals for Harris’ can sway even a tiny fraction of this deeply rooted voting bloc.
